Company Product Overlay
Company Product Overlay is a planned concept. It is not implemented in the current Actualog application.
There is currently no Company Product Overlay page, no overlay editor, and no supported workflow for saving a company's private replacement name, description, attributes, images, or documents on top of a shared product.
Planned meaning
The planned concept is a company-specific presentation layer attached to a shared product. It may eventually allow a company to keep approved local presentation or reference data without changing the canonical product used by other companies.
This paragraph describes future product direction only. It must not be read as a description of current application behavior.
What exists now
Current Actualog uses separate, implemented concepts:
- a shared product record for product data;
- explicit company-product relationships such as Manufacturer, Distributor, Supplier, Consumer, Designer, or Service provider;
- Brand Owner authority for brand-identified products;
- catalogs and offers for company-specific commercial terms;
- Product Claims for structured proposed product changes created by supported data workflows;
- product media, documents, identifiers, governance, and history in their current defined scopes.
None of these should be renamed or described as a Company Product Overlay.
Do not confuse an overlay with a Product Claim
A Product Claim is a proposed change with provenance, evidence, risk, and review state. It does not create a company-specific copy of the product and it does not make the planned overlay feature available.
